How many wet diapers is normal?

General, widely published guidance (AAP, NHS and similar). Every baby is different.
The first week
Many babies have about one wet diaper on day 1, two on day 2, and so on, reaching around six by day 5 or 6 as milk comes in.
Stool colour at a glance
Yellow, mustard, green and brown are all usually normal. black, red, pale / white stools after the first few days are worth mentioning to your baby’s doctor straight away.
When to talk to your doctor
Call your doctor if wet diapers drop noticeably, urine looks dark, your baby seems unusually sleepy or has a dry mouth, or you see red, black (after the first days) or pale stools.
